You really shouldn't be surprised that a company exists to make money. Moreover, they weren't making enough money to justify keeping it up - I believe it wasn't possible to purchase 'Shark Cards' on PS3 for a long time now - not to mention that hackers on this system could easily just mod this. I'm really not surprised they decided to shutdown GTA V servers for PS3, that game did not get any updates in ages on that console.
